This is a post to all of my english readers (I think it’s about two of you in total) who have plans to visit Oslo. Perhaps you have been told that Oslo is an expencive city to visit, but that’s not necessarily true. It depends on what kind of choices you make while you’re here.

The first thing you should do if you visit Oslo, is to get a “ukeskort”. This is a week-pass for all public transport in central Oslo. This is the cheapest and easiest way to get around Oslo. The most expencive way to get around is by taxi.

- Take the bus to Ekebergsletta, take some food with you and have a picnic. Look at the animals and go for a walk on one of the trails.

- Hop on the tram and just travel around to see all sides of the city. If you get lost in Oslo, just hop on a tram and it will take you to the city center.

- Go ice skating on Spikersuppa (next to the main street, Karl Johans gate). If you have your own iceskates, it’s free. You can rent ice skates.

- Hiking. Go hiking in Nordmarka or take the subway to Frognerseteren and go hiking. There is a few marked trails, so bring comfortable shoes.

- Take the tram, a bus or the underground to Vigelandsparken and look at the statues.

- Take a tram to Birkelunden on a sunday and check out the marked.

- There is also something called couchsurfing. It means that you can sleep on peoples couches. Genious!

- Bring your towel and swimwear with you and take the ferry over Oslofjorden to Langøyene or Hovedøya. These trips are included in your “ukeskort”.

- If you get the OsloPass you get free access to a lot of museums and stuff. Check out the link.

- If you’re coming to Oslo, you can send me an e-mail if you have any questions. It’s totally free. Welcome!
